Famed Canadian author Farley Mowat's account of his (doomed) efforts to save a trapped fin whale on the south coast of Newfoundland. According to the forward, Mowat's masterful telling of this terrible story inspired Greenpeace to refocus its efforts on saving whales in the early 1970s.
